These guidelines have been written by a working party mandated by the BAAP Evidence Based Clinical Practice and Audit Group. This paper presentsevidence-based recommendations for the investigation of newly diagnosed children with bilateral severe and profound sensorineural deafness. The recommendations in this guideline are of relevance to all professionals and parents of deaf children. The guidelines will be reviewed again in September 2002.
